چکیده

Total internal partition sums (TIPS) are calculated for several molecules, which are abundant in non9 terrestrial planetary atmospheres. For all molecules, calculations are performed for the most abundant isotopic species. Partition sums for lesser abundant isotopomers of several molecules are determined as well. The 11 calculations are made for temperatures between 70 and 300 K. The resulting TIPS are 3t to a polynomial expression, which is fourth order in temperature. The methods of calculation of the TIPS, the convergence, and 13 the quality of the polynomial 3ts for each isotopomer are discussed. ? 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. 15

The T-matrix is used to calculate the extinction cross section of bispherical particle systems in random orientation for a monospherical size parameter x = 0:01. Di6erences between bispherical and monospherical (Mie) results are shown for a range of values of the refractive index. It is found that the size of the T-matrix that needs to be calculated can be large, thus preventing simple dipole a...

Polynomial expansion procedures, along with an analytical discrete-ordinates method, are used to solve the temperature-jump problem based on a rigorous version of the linearized Boltzmann equation for rigid-sphere interactions. In particular, the temperature and density perturbations and the temperature-jump coe5cient are obtained (essentially) analytically in terms of a modern version of the d...

A recently developed version of the discrete-ordinates method is used along with elementary numerical linear-algebra techniques to establish an e$cient and especially accurate solution to what can be called Chandrasekhar's basic problem in radiative transfer, namely the problem of computing the radiation intensity in a "nite plane-parallel layer illuminated by an incident beam of radiation and ...

The F N method is used to compute the classical X and 1⁄2 functions for use in the solution of a class of non-grey radiative-transfer problems defined for finite layers. The model considered allows for scattering with complete frequency redistribution (completely noncoherent scattering) and continuum absorption. Some test problems based on Doppler and Lorentz profiles of the line-scattering coe...

The discrete-ordinates method is used to develop a solution to a class of non-grey problems in the theory of radiative transfer. The model considered allows for scattering with complete frequency redistribution (completely non-coherent scattering) and continuum absorption. In addition to a general formulation for semi-in"nite and "nite plane-parallel media, speci"c computations, for both the Do...
